Idle Conversation

How often do you end up in idle conversation?  A person may be speaking to you but they are not really saying anything.  You begin to wonder how did you get involved in this conversation and possibly your mind drifts off.  You start to wonder how you can escape all of this dullness in a polite manner.  Sometimes it just isn’t easy.  The serious conversations can also take their toll on you as well.  When people begin speaking about politics, crime, violence, family situations and more it really isn’t much better.  It almost always ends up being all about their thoughts, ideas and opinions and if you try to speak they cut you off.  Everyday on the internet there are articles that seem to involve celebrities but with a long drawn out spiel that you end up not even reading even if you were interested.  Not to mention the overpowering number of adverts that make it almost to ready anything as they step over the reading material.  For example, you might be speaking to your friend and he and she begins a diatribe about their family.  The next thing you know they want your thoughts and opinion which you probably don’t even wish to say.  The other part is that somewhere along the way you lost track of what they were saying and nodding your head is no longer acceptable.  The best move is to tell them you suddenly remembered you had an appointment or to be somewhere, politely excuse yourself and leave mostly with a sigh of relief.
