Too Long

Have you noticed that all of the adverts are just too long?  Companies advertising special products seem to drag on.  I always check the side bar to see where it end. If it travels all the way down the side I hit delete.  Then there are the adverts for information such as symptoms for a heart attack, narcissism, mental issues,  real reasons a person can’t lose weight, wrinkles, etc.  I do not believe that anyone wants to click on the topic, then click again, and then continue clicking while they blast you with commercials.  A good sales pitch is short and to the point.  Most people want to read a brief synopsis and then do their own research or make a decision.  The videos for sales pitches are the worst.  They tend to go on for thirty plus minutes.  Who has time in their life for this?  Let us not forget the donation ads particularly for animals.  They send pictures of a variety of animals including dogs, cats, elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, and more.  Their ads may be appealing but then if you are going to spend your money why not do it for children in need who have life threatening diseases? The lists are endless.  We all have our own troubles in life and many individuals are willing to donate to help others.  However, the really long pitches are taking away from people reaching for their wallets.  When a person is trying to sell a car or a home, they do not dwell on lengthy verbiage.  They tend to get to the point so that they can find what the person is really looking for.  Then, rather than waste their time and the client’s, they use the data to convince them to make the deal.  It’s a faster way to close a sale.  Anyone who has had sales training clearly understands that any pitch that is too long will convince the client to walk away.  Keeping their interest is the key.  The next time you see one of these adverts that are too long, hit the delete button. You will be glad you did.  Your time is valuable don’t you agree? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
